Spring has sprung in our garden pond!
Posted in response to the Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge. This week’s them ‘Half-Light’. A photograph inspired by a lyric, poem or story…

Though I love to see a full moon, and sometimes give it a howl, I am of course always on the lookout for rampant werewolves on full moon nights (look, I’ve seen Twilight, I know some of them might be ok, but I’m not taking any chances). Fortunately, this moon was so weird and bright that I would have seen them coming, and lets face it, I only need to have run inside and locked the door ’til daylight if one did manage to climb over the rose covered prickly fence into my garden from when this picture was taken. So hah! werewolves, go get you a chinese instead!
Of course, I’m referring to the song ‘Werewolves of London’ by Warren Zevon which surely has the finest first line of any song….e..ver… ‘I saw a werewolf with a chinese menu in his hand…’ For those of you who haven’t come across it, enjoy!
Posted in response to the Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge. This week’s theme ‘Dance’
I’ve never witnessed anything so colourful, noisy, and joyful as the Trinidad Carnival. The parade of dancers, each troupe in different coloured costumes, went on all day. A senses overload which simply cannot be captured in mere photographs, but I gave it a go. Oh, and of course, these were taken whilst I was having the odd rum or two and ‘wining’ myself. Just to be clear.. wining is a Carribean dance (basically ‘winding’ your hips), I wasn’t drinking wine on top of the rum, let’s face it, I wouldn’t have been able to stand up, let alone dance, if I’d been doing that! 😉

Last Sunday was Mother’s Day here in England. My twin daughters live at different ends of the country, and because of their, and my, schedules we were, to my dismay, destined not to meet up for the day. They were though, dutiful enough to send sweet and thoughtful mother’s day cards, and to my surprise and delight, also both sent the most wonderful bouquets. I wish I could harness the scent, which fills our living room, to share with you, but in the absence of smellyblog here are a few studies I took of the flowers.

As the year rolls by
nature’s bold palette mellows
to soft autumn hues

The passing of time
Seconds, minutes, hours, days,
Seasons a whisper
Years a ripple on water
life a transient zephyr
Posted in response to the Daily Post weekly photo challenge. This weeks theme ‘Vibrant’
This display of colourful dresses dancing in the wind while hanging from a dusty shop front in Kerala, India, caught my eye through the car window.

Just a quick ‘hello’ from one of my gorgeous goldfish, who despite the chilly weather are still up and about and enjoying this morning’s sunshine. They seem to think I should be feeding them, though you are really not supposed to when the temperature is less than 10 degrees, which it most definitely is now. I do usually keep some ‘winter’ food for days like this, but sadly I’ve run out, so they’ll just have to forage, perhaps that’s why he’s looking so glum!
By the way, no one can convince me that my fish don’t know me. They always come to the surface when I go out in the garden, and congregate around the area where I usually feed them. They are tame, and in the summer, I’ll sit for hours while they feed from my hand and swim around my feet – yep, I paddle in the pond even when it’s at it’s murky worst. I love them all, but now we have over 60 of them it’s sometimes hard to remember all their names!!
Have a lovely day all x

Posted in response to the Daily Post Photo Challenge – this week’s them ‘oops’
Oh, so many oopsies to choose from… Gone for this one since it continues to make me laugh whenever I see it. It was only a quick snap of my daughter while we were on holiday, but even so, how I didn’t notice the photobombing when I took it I’ll never know!!
