Growing Peaches

A chrysalis of pink
transforms to a globe
caught on a trembling branch,
and for every fall there is a bruise
that sullies the flesh.

Those that remain grow juicy.
Beauties with thin skin
ready to be consumed,
or, if left unpicked,
to shrivel, and fade.
