Its an Animal

I am drowning from the inside
a snail of mucus churns my brain
a slimy toad sits in my chest
and his friend, the frog, lives in my throat
Hacking to remove them, they will not budge

My lips are lizard dry
Limbs heavy from wrestling rhinos
can barely lift the cup
and jealous bees sting my throat
as I sip at warm honey

They swarm in my head
A throbbing angry buzz
All amount of blowing does not stop
used tissues mount
I think I’ve got a cold.
